In 1947 Myles was playing Union for Cottesloe and by 1950, after switching to Rugby league in 1948 was awarded the inaugural Brice Trophy medal for the best player in the WARFL. By1950 he had played State games against South Australia, England, and Balmain.
In 1952 a young 24-year-old Cottesloe centre in Tom Myles had the honour of captaining the first West Australian State team to tour New South Wales.
Myles sporting ability didn’t just stop at rugby with a few middle and light Heavyweight boxing championships under his belt and the honour of captaining the Cottesloe Surf club in the summer.
